You won’t miss dairy at all with this creamy dressing. Try this yummy Italian Tahini dressing on a simple bowl of greens, topped with whatever veggies you have in the fridge right now!
In fact, I love just grabbing whatever fresh, steamed or roasted veggies are left at the end of the week, along with leftover steamed/baked potatoes and toss it all on top of a bed of greens. In this case, I used romaine. Top it with a delicious dressing and voila, a super delicious and satisfying plant-based one-bowl meal.

Italian Tahini Dressing Recipe

I’ve always loved tahini dressings. Tahini is ground sesame and sesame seeds have many healing properties you can read more about here
There’s so many varieties of tahini dressings online, lemon, orange, and more, and they’re all yummy. I just never considered an Italian version until I came across this recipe from Detoxinista.
I’ve made adjustments to meet my health and flavor guidelines so try it out and let me know what you think!
Since I generally eat a plant-based low-fat diet to focus on healing my liver, I typically make fat free dressings, so it’s a real treat to enjoy a creamy yet still health-promoting dressing like this every once in a while.
- 1/2 cup water more or less to desired consistency
- 1/2 cup organic raw tahini Recommended
- 1/2 cup cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
- 1-2 splashes coconut aminos Recommended: Coconut Secret
- 2-4 cloves garlic I like lots of garlic!
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp oregano Recommended: Frontier Organic …you could also try using organic Italian spice blend. (Recommended: Frontier Organic)
- 1/2 tsp salt

Add everything to a blender or small food processor and blend well. Or, mince the garlic finely, or put it through a garlic press, and whisk all ingredients well. Add more water if needed to achieve desired consistency.
